Class Schedule Fall 2024

SATURDAY     

September 21 - December 14

10:00-11:00  

Beginner 

    Students will learn basic footwork technique and upper body

    movement.  We will do a beginner level choreography, either

    sevillanas or fandangos de Huelva.​​

​

11:30-12:30

Intermediate

     Alegrias, Romeras or Caracoles

    Continued work on improving footwork technique, working in

    a 12-count rhythm, choreography -either alegrias, Romeras or Caracoles.

* Castanet add-on    *  (new)

    Beginner / Intermediate castanets

    Students will learn how to wear castanets, beginner technique, work on a 

    basic roll, and learn how to use castanets for sevillanas. Familiarity with

    sevillanas is recommended.

September 24 - December 10

    Farruca   *  

    *  taught by Deirdre Wendel

    Complex footwork, and strong, elegant upper body

8:00-9:00 

Advanced

    La Caña with manton 

    taught by Natalia

    Students must provide their own manton, choreography is

    intricate and dramatic.

THURSDAY       

September  26 - December 19

Intermediate

    Garrotin

    Lighthearted and gracious dance, using a sombrero cordobes. 

    Students provide their own sombrero

    Level Intermedate 2

​8:00-9:00

​Advanced

    Tangos de Malaga

    This will be a slow, dramatic version, close to farruca in spirit.
